27.0 Seatpost Minimum 400mm Long (decent manufacturer)

On the Thomson, the wall thickness on 25.4 is bigger than on the 27.0 so its still mega strong.

Also have found myself that posts seem to slip less with shim than without!

Ribbed surface of the Thomson post helps too.

Cheers,

Chaser.

I saw your Thomson yesterday. It's tempting, but taking into account the postage cost and the potential for customs and Royal Mail taking an extra wad from me I think I'll stick to UK only.

Cheers all the same. :)

i've sent quite a few things to UK and not once have i heard anyone complain they got dinged by customs. postage on the other hand may cost a tad since it's a long post. however, if you like, i look into it and get you some quotes. ;)

If we assume postage to be ~15 dollars for an air service, added to the cost of the post we're looking at $65 or ~£43.

If it gets stopped by customs, there's the potential of say another ~£10 on top plus Royal Mail's frankly ridiculous handling fee of another £8. It could end up costing north of £60 for me, which I can buy a new one for shipped in the UK (I'm not really looking to spend over £35 as it is anyway).

If it weren't for the vast expanse of water between us, I'd have definitely bought it off you. :(

alright, no worries. i understand. there have been plenty of times when there were items in the UK that i'd like to have gotten, but shipping due to size (not customs) was prohibitive. like i said, never been dinged customs on items sent or received to/from UK, "knock on wood".

good luck with finding a post to suit your needs. ;)

Cheers RockiMtn.

I seem to be pretty unlucky regarding customs and have easily had half of the items I've bought outside the EU stopped and charged for. It sucks!

Hopefully there's a post out there somewhere!

Still sniffing in various dark corners of the internet to no avail. Someone put me out of my misery! :D

Thanks for that.

However, it seems I'm sorted now. Managed to pick up a nice 410mm Thomson post which I should have in my hands on Monday.
