26" Tan/Amber Wall Tires?

I´ve heard some people wanted to use Latex milk, but never saw anyone really try it. More for a test than anything else I used Plastidip "Phoenician Yellow" after thoroughly cleaning and masking a very haggard looking set of tires.

Worked well in retaining loose strands, albeit the colour is a little light for my taste (Camo beige may be a bit darker?). I´ve not mounted these so far, but the Plastidip bonded very well and appears to have "become one" with the sidewall.

So yes. I´ve painted my tires. This was already discussed with my therapist, so you lot can mock me all you want 🤪
I’ve been investigating exactly this sort of thing but not yet taken the plunge. I’ve got a pair of really early IRC Racer that have completely lost the rubber on the sidewalls but the threads are mostly ok. I’d never want to try and ride them but for show/wall hanger duties think this would do the trick. I tried liquid latex but it will never be the right colour. Looks like a job for the long dark nights!

The problem im finding is getting narrower tyres. Back in the mid 80s. 1.75 was very common and i remember looking at " fat" 1.95 tyres and thinking....wow.

My Swallow is a uncomfortably tight fit (no mud room) with 1.95.....ideally it needs 1.75. But there is really nothing that size. Im on my last but 1 pair of NOS 1.95 IRD Mythos.....then im stuck!

Unless you want a slick....

Black/Blacks an option, but then that's hardly retro!

SimWorks The Homage 26 are 1,95"

The are pretty expensive, unfortunately.
And one of the two I've bought came with a noticable side imbalance. (Is that the right word?)

Also there is the Panaracer Pasela ProTide, that comes in 26x1,75 and amber wall.
But thats more of a touring tire I guess.

Here are two pictures I took a while back comparing the size and skin wall color of the different Panaracer tires.

Thought I’d Share a comparison of the new cheapo Curio tyres vs. A true retro Timbuk ll tyre. The skinwall on the Curio is more orangey and reminds me of fake tan on a person! 🤣 the photo makes the Curio colour appear closer than they actually are and they are HEAVY and do look/feel cheap... because they are! 😜 909A212E-3632-4773-838C-FDD1186C5AE6.jpeg 6C786C00-5A83-4F9E-855A-A61722C6AB85.jpeg
