26" Tan/Amber Wall Tires?

Thanks for all the input and please keep it coming, good value for all I expect.

I'd still like an honest opinion running a Dart as a rear tire, silly idea? Expect poor traction? Laughter from your cycling community? The reason I'd toy with the idea is liking the rounder profile and the 70g lighter weight. Also a plus is the price, although both the Smoke & Dart are pretty affordable compered to other modern options.

On another note I just accepted an eBay offer on a set of NOS Vittoria Spinx 26 x2.0 tires I started watching yesterday. $45CAD each posted with taxes to my Washington state address is not bad. Limited info on these, mostly bits from RB posts. Curious on weight if anyone has weighted a sample.

@Tsundere I see you picked up a pair in January from a previous post, any details feedback you are able to provide?
I fitted a set of the NOS Vittoria from the seller in Italy to my Mission. They do look great and close to what I wanted. Haven’t ridden on them so can’t comment on that, I can say they were an absolute bugger to fit. I’ve done probably hundreds of tyres and never struggled! Kept slipping on the rim, wiped both rim and tyre bead with some multi purpose cleaner to try and create some friction, still wouldn’t play. Ended up having to buy one of those tyre bead seater type grip devices.

Those curiouk £8.50 jobbies were a bargain, I bought a few pairs of those too, but they look much better on the early to mid ‘80s stuff if that makes sense, bit more rounded. I check back every few weeks to see if they have more yet!

Thanks for posting, I love the bike that sits on them as well 😍

They look great, hope mine are more prone to staying put once mounted

The photos of mine indicate a darker side wall, may be the lighting or the effects of aging, I'd be satisfied even if the side walls are a bit darker.

I'd have guessed Vittoria tires were made in Italy?

I'm a total tyre nerd - but car and van after doing it for 20 years... The type face on the top and bottom picture is very 'Continental', probably explains why they are made in Germany.

The problem wasn’t that they slipped once on - it was that the bead kept slipping on the edge of the rim so I couldn’t get them to mount - very tight fit! Got there in the end though. Probably a few variations of colour, I went for these as they were closer to the lighter coloured Michelin Hi-lite which were stock on this bike.

I too thought Vittoria are Italian and indeed the company is - just compared a set of Contis from the same era and as the next poster suggested the Made in Germany and the other font is pretty much the same.

Despite your pain, they’re still nicely aligned with your valve holes! 💪👌

Is there any other way?!

Thanks for posting - I checked only last week and we’re still out of stock. They are perfect for older builds like my old Muddy Fox - will get a couple of pairs in.

Curiouk seems to say they have these in stock. Not proper knobblies though, but the price is crazy cheap!
