26" Tan/Amber Wall Tires?

Ever since finding a set of Vittoria Spinx in 2.0 width a few weeks ago I've been on the hunt for something similar, they're like hens teeth so far. I may end up getting another set of Smoke/Darts, it's great at least one manufacturer has not abandoned us, so far I'm not that keen on many modern offerings, too tall tan wall or crazy expensive or both. I feel fortunate to have found the Vittorias, good timing, about $45 each CAD after taxes/shipping and just under or just over 600g, best of all they look fantastic.

Wanting to keep my old MegaBites in rotation I decided to try another refurb idea @Dr Dremel, your plasti dip idea looks like it may do the trick but wanted to try a different approach.

The side walls are fully in tact. Just the outer coating is less there. Yesterday I rubbed in and coated the side walls with Dubbin

I know it's meant for leather or even pleather but it's intended use it to moisten and protect so, why not try?

The dry side walls seemed to absorb the Dubbin, it's kind of an orange tint so that's a good thing. Darkens them a bit but not in a bad way. I'll assume I can keep applying it taking care to maintain a dry rim breaking surface.

I'm thinking it may be a viable option, we'll see after a few rides, the black rubber received a healthy rub of ArmourAll as well

Further to the idea of dried out sidewall refurbishment. I picked up a nice set of green Wildgrippers today, front sidewalls are mint, rear sidwalls were very dried out, sorry, didn't take a before photo but trust me, they were pretty dry, not as bad as the Mega bites above though.

I did my best to clean up the green rubber and not having any dubbin to moisten the dried up side walls, decided to try proofide instead (Brooks saddle cream for those unfamiliar). I think it worked like a charm, time will tell I guess.

Pictures of the bike they went on and close ups:

I'm well happy with the Fairweather for XC from Blue Lug in Japan who've been mentioned before on here umpteen times - they have all sorts of tasty bike tit-bits.

Made by Panaracer, they seem fairly light, 'proper' colour tan sidewalls and nice and knobbly so might be most suited to earlier bikes. They DHL'd them very quickly to the UK, I wasn't stung with any tax which might have been good fortune, all-in I think they were about £95-100 for the pair - so roughly in the ball-park of two £45-or-so tyres that can be found in the UK, but less ubiquitous.

just picked a pair of these up on your recommendation! The tan wall finish is great, super ‘retro’ unlike the Schwab’s offerings.

Will report back when installed.

Got them installed today. Look great for £20 each. They roll super fast on tarmac at 50psi. Funnily enough I got sent two pairs, I presume by accident. If any one wants them let me know and we can arrange it 😁

I'm loving the look and pricing of these, thanks for sharing

As mentioned on another thread - there's a Snake Belly remake on the scene.

Wakeman Massie is the dude behind them - he's also going to be doing Ritchey WCS remakes.

The SnakeBelly are $85 each and not available this side of the pond yet. Personally, they don't tempt me but the Ritchey Megabite Z-Max in 2.1 certainly do.

And the answer yes - he plans to do red ones :)

These SnakeBellys are super nice but yes, expensive! To be fair though $85USD per tire is not out of line at all for high quality modern tires these days it seems.

During the summer I made new friend while attending a great outdoor party and it turned out he was in possession of 26" wheeled Cook Bros cruiser, I was aware of the Looptail SnakeBelly repops scheduled for a later this year release and asked if he'd be interested, he's not on FB and gladly accepted my offer to keep an eye out for him. A couple weeks ago in spite of the $270CAD all in price I placed an order on his behalf and now have the tires in hand.

They look really nice 🤩

Personally I'm holding out for the Ritcheys and while they will also cost a bunch I'll save a few pennies for next year ;), now will I choose black or red? 🤔

My buddy sent along a couple pics of his cruiser, if there ever was a bike these SnakeBellys were made for it's this one 😁
