Hey Folks,
Steel Kona's have long been lauded for their ride quality and this has been the comfiest bike i have ever owned. I love it but a new steel Kona has arrived in my fleet and this has to go to a new appreciative home.
Now, lets get down to the facts, the paintwork is very tatty, especially around the BB area where hammerite has been applied but bare patches are now rusty. The rust is surface rust and i believe would come off with a sandblast/nitromors/steel brush bit of action.
The paint is the original 90' "splatter paint" that was popular at the time. The frame is a The Bike Group, designed by Joe Murray, i believe these were made in Canada to exacting quality standards and are still very sort after today.
All threads are good and there are no dings to frame, only lots of chipped paint, rust and cable rub.
The frame and forks and original seatpost (clamp bolt has a couple stripped threads but i added a washer and it works fine) Also included is a Chris King 2-Nut 1" threaded headset which alone cost me £115 three years ago. The best headset you can buy.
I will be listing a pair of 26" wheels, Deore hub/Mavic rims which run true and are strong and are what i ran on this frame.
Size -
Seattube - 21" or 54cm c-c
toptube - 23" or 59cm
headtube - 19cm
I am 6ft 2", 33" leg and this fitted a treat with about 7" of seatpost out. I rode this bike almost exclusively on road as a tourer/commuter and bought it from a chap who had owned it from new.
Any questions, fire away! I would welcome a viewing so you fully appreciate the nick of the paintwork, i do live in Glasgow however though......
Price, - £120 posted to UK. Paypal gift or bank transfer.
Price if fixed and fair, remember your getting the headset too!
Regards, Ben
