The difference is that one still has available replacement parts after nearly 40 years. The other, i give it under a decade.

One is an All Terrain Bike, can be ridden to the trail. The other is a Mountain bike, must be shuttled to the trails due to its increased capabilities. Ironically, the trails will be less technical.
