Apparently it's not just quite as simple as replacing the shock due to different bikes requiring a different level of damping (this is shown on a small sticker on the shock that looks like a tiny bar chart graph). Also I believe Treks and maybe other makes use OEM versions of Fox shocks on their bikes that aren't always exactly the same as the off the shelf Fox shocks and forks.

This isn't a Trek shock. It's an "off the shelf" shock which I bought for my Trek. As if things weren't complicated enough!

It will if the eye to eye measurement is the same - I have the same EVO links (albeit a bit chunkier!) on my Trek Scratch 8 Air which originally would have had the same shock fitted as yours..
