2004 Dekerf Implant

Mmm...I hope you do not take offence but the Syncros stuff does not work for me, especially the stem. I guess you are going for a Canadian stylee build??
And those bars on an Implant?

No offence taken Carl. I've already sold that stem and got another (not sure its going to work either though. I wanted to try out the bars but have an open mind. Just want to get it together and ride it and will alter bits to suit I think

Have I missed something? Are you "local" cyfa? :? I've bought bits from you myself and had you post them... Have I been a dick?

No, he's in Plymouth mate. Happy to deliver or collect if you guys do any deals.

Twice now on this build and no doubt again in future. Will bear this in mind, cheers ;)

Gutted that you've finished shopping  You are soooo going to beat me, I won't be able to afford my chainrings for at least another week  If you make any progress this w/e I may be forced to throw a crappy riveted chainset on and ride up the nearest hill for a snap or two ;)

Don't make me do it dude

Another stem I'm not happy with so just need to find the right stem, gear cables and shorten brake hoses etc and it will be good to go.

From what i can see i reckon the stem looks ok on it. But please leave some space for spacers! Youd bash yourself if you cut it too short and couldnt sell them/wrong height.
You have managed to pick up the rasta flake on it now too.

Ok, for you Josh I'll fit some spacers before I cut the steerer, for the time being at least ;)

The stem is 50mm, just bought a 90mm off here to try though.

OMG! This is going to be close! ;)
I see you get the same sort of 'help' from tiny hands that I get :D My littlun shouted "lellow bike!" when I wheeled mine out for a photo earlier!
Looking good tho, I'm not cutting my steerer until I've ridden it and decided on stem height, if I keep my current stem i think it will get 25mm of spacer under it but it's a personal thing and very much depends on how the years have treated your spine since the 90's ;) (mines FUBAR)

Finally finished it today. The front mech needs a little adjusting and the forks need a bit of air but other than that it is done.
I owe thanks to a few people on here for giving me advice on modern bits that I don't know much about and also thanks to Josh for facing the headtube, BB etc after painting.
I've kept track of the costs of the build from frame to respray and decals, right down to the last nut and bolt including all postage costs incurred. Every single component was purchased for the build, nothing from the parts bin, and the cost comes out at just over £1,100 which I think isn't too bad considering the price of a new Implant frame today. Here's the full spec:

If things go to plan then I'll get some first ride pics up tomorrow evening.

That is an absolute beauty! Congrats to you. I also like the spec list. Nothing too fancy but everything is super reliable.

I am looking forward to your riding report.

Thanks Casper, and thanks for selling me the frame :D

I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turned out and functional and reliable was what I was aiming for as I couldn't afford to spend a fortune on the build.
