2003 Orange P7 Singlespeed

Retro Newbie
Hello all,
I've recently given my Orange P7 a refresh, so I thought was worth posting.
I picked up the frame mid 2019 for £40, and built up the bike from parts I already owned. I used the bike just like that until last week.
After stripping it down I cleaned a few areas bubbling original paint off (metallic turquoise) to inspect the rust damage; I found a couple of pinholes on the underside of the top tube and the rest was solid. I thought it was worth trying to save the frame, so I mig welded and cleaned up the holes.
Following this I dropped the frame off for blasting and powdercoating in RAL 9002 with matt lacquer at LSN Coatings in Castleford.
Fortunately the blasting process didn't unearth any further corrosion, and once collected I coated the inside of the tubes with rust convertor and then Bilt Hamber S50.

I have now built up the frame with some of my original build components, plus a few new(to me) parts such as the Fox Forks (previously Manitou R7's) and M590 cranks (previously more period M571's).

See spec below for the final build, I'll get it weighed in the next week.

Re:

Great bike, nice frame restoration!
I had mine (a 2007 Patriot 66) repainted by Orange directly - as the frames have a lifetime warranty they offer painting and refurbishing service to all former bikes. That’s great, there’s not many brands able to do that; Orange frames are built to last.

Re:

Thanks for the comments.

I'd seen that Orange offer a repaint service, I wasn't aware that some of their frames have a lifetime warranty though.. Good to know if I ever buy another orange!

Re:

I've just dropped this onto the bathroom scales to get a rough weight.

Comes in at 14.1kg, or 31lbs.
A little heavier than I thought!

Great build you've made there and the chain tensioner is set up right too. I must say it doesn't look that heavy, I reckon your bike is better than your scales.
