got this off ebay a few weeks ago, it's in less than mint condition but it was obviously a rider before and it will be again.

Rocky Mountain Instinct - Disc Brake Conversion Problems

Hi,

Anyone got any words of wizdom for upgrading a 2001 RM Instinct to disc. The cable guides are too small and I dont want to cable tie. I am thinking of drilling out the guides but, I wince at the thought of it...

Any help appreciated.

Not a very good picture I'm afraid, but this is also a 2002 Element, a Team scandium which I think weighs 11.5kg. It has a 2002 Marathon S, which I think was the original spec for the bike, although I found it much later. Quite rare forks, superior to SIDs in my opinion, about 150-200g heavier, but stiffer and plusher. I'm thinking of converting it to discs for 2014 so I can fit ZTR Crest wheels, but I'm not sure it would make all that much difference, as I don't use it in the winter.

Mine was a 21.5" frame and it weighed bugger all, really surprised me.
