My next project to be getting on with…

Had a cull and only got my orange aluminium elite but seen this recently and thought …why not!

Measures 19.5 inches from centre of crank to top of seat tube. With the low slung top tube it feels fine to me who always rides a medium and from spinning around in the street it rides extremely modern and feels very comfy and is super light! The frame welds and craftsmanship are brilliant.

Looking at bikepedia it’s pretty much standard frame,forks, XT wheels, XT front mech, and XTR rear mech but has had a couple of period upgrades including a riser bar and Ritchey stem, XT V Brakes and XTR shifters/brake levers..

Rides lovely and frame will clean up immaculate with a good T cut. No dents and only light marks to polish out.

Should be a relatively easy light restoration to have it like new again…

But as always I say this then restore them and generally sell them on to you guys due to competing hobbies i I generally prefer the tinkering more than the riding…
Plus..summer is coming and my Yamaha R1 will be back out soon!

I’ll have a think and post these pics in the meantime .. watch this space as to where this goes…

Yeah, it’s certainly gonna be a minter with little effort…

Very mixed decisions on how I’ll progress it if I keep it…

First thoughts are to keep it as it is with minor changes such as race face riser bar to match the post and cranks, new tyres and tubes, new grips, new cables (running fine but not worth not changing them), new chain. Possible refresh the forks with a service and repaint or touch up the stanchions and apply new decals just to make it mint (albeit they are running fine and holding air again, for the effort it’s worth doing).

Alternative would be to go all out disc brake upgrade but that would involve changing out the wheels and moving away from the factory spec…

These arrived this morning! I recon they will look great on this frame and I remember fitting these tyres to an s works if the same era when they were in vogue so pretty much period correct.

I also have sourced an original Race Face prodigy stem which is on its way…

Should get chance later in week to start the strip and service …

As I ain’t started building this yet and I’ve just paid for another motorbike track day I thought that I’d offer it up for sale for a very short time as it stands until I do make a start on it…

It’s in the for sale section but only till I get the time to make a start. I know there’s been quite a few on here looking for one of these but my holy grail to have back is my early noughties Stumpjumper S Works..
