Baby stepping... Just recieved brakes today, going new SLX 2 pots... They just work. Front end on, that went smoothly. The old XTR BB, not so much. The non drive cup was looking pretty nasty and doesn't want to go in all the way. Took out a few spares but the non drive is 112.5, others are either to short or long.
So probably going to eventually swap for a Raceface Next LP, but will go modern-SLX M665. Will have a new BB coming in, if that doesn't go smooth I'll have the BB chased, but it looks good.
Made up my mind, just to confirm the BB doesn't need chasing I'll be going with a new XTR BB93 BB paired with the Hollowtech SLX crank. Doing this to make sure the BB threads work well with the new BB (otherwise getting chased) and it should be good trade bait for the friends bike with the very nice black Raceface Next LP Isis Crank. Which would be amazing.
.
Apparently I just needed a break, & another spacer for the BB. Yipee! Next steps... shifters & derailleurs followed by sifting through disc brake adapters & discs to see what I have and what I'll need..
Test fit. Confirmed good with 85mm Easton Haven stem. Bars will be cut down to 750ish... Now to find a 180mm front brake adapter, and make sure my QR'rs are tight.
Wheels post and seat are all just place holders. Won't start hunting for better until I can get a few good solid rides in.
Pedals will be swapped for some Nuke proof horizons eventually. Same with bottle cage bolts. Have some green Ti rotor bolts coming along with matching cage bolts.
Matching old dog poop on the tires will be sorted as well....
Found brake adapters and made a tough decision.... I've got a gorgeous Turner I've been trying to sell for $500. Nothing, crickets... It's got the front Derailleur I need for the score. Also has minty shifters (as apposed to the scratched ones I was going to use) I can use, a nice period correct carbon post, and plenty of parts to sell to offset the loss a little...
Well shoot... Good news is front Derailleur is on... Bad news is the M952 shifters do not fit well with the brake levers.... So I think swapping XO 9 speed shifters and rear D from the Bianchi & XTR on the Bianchi is the next move
