2000 Giant ATX1 DH Team

Retro Newbie
So this is my first post. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Since I was 14 (way back in 2000-god that's depressing!) I've lusted after both an ATX1 and a Lobo. At least half of that dream has finally come true.

I've managed to pick this up:

Condition wise, it seems pretty good. I've checked the back end and all the usual spots for cracks and all seems well. It's fairly obviously not factory spec, which is slightly disappointing, but I think the plan is to ride it for winter on the Monster Ts etc, whilst trying to find as many factory parts as I can. I've found a set of 2000 Boxxers, but they're not in amazing condition so I'll probably wait for a better set to come along. The wheels can stay as they are (321s), although I'd like to try and source the correct front hub as it's currently running a QR20. From the Warner replica I've seen on here (amazing by the way!) I'm assuming they ran Big Uns/Bulbs? I'm strulling to find any info.

Luckily the original cranks seem to be present, along with (most of) the AC chain device. If anyone has the bottom half they'd like to sell off, please let me know.

It's running Ultegra rear mech with an LX shifter, obviously I'd like to try and find the correct 9.0 stuff for it in due course. Luckily the Tioga bar & stem are there, along with the HFX9s which I seem to remember them coming with. I may be way out though. Any help would be appreciated.

This is it with my other baby, my 2006 Foes FXR 2:1

Great looking bike mate I built the Rob Warner Replica, I like you lusted after that bike when I was 16 back in the day Im a tall git to and proud english man so warner and peat were the shit to me haha.

Took me ages and its still not 100% finished, the team used to run bulbs or big un's, what hub do you have at the moment ? as you can swap out hope hubs from QR to 20mm.

I have some AC spares ill have a look for you I had to by 3 devices just to make 1 good one, I also have a mint pair of Black 2000 boxers but there spares and because there so mint selling them is not something Im looking at doing just yet, I actually thought about putting the black ones on my bike and spraying my spare rear end black.

Have a look at my 99 boxxers for sale post on the second to last post and you'll see the black ones, I will let you know thou I'm half way across the world.

They used to come sold with Hope brakes and the team ran hope so you maybe best looking for some m4's or even e4's.

Ill inbox you a pretty cool link and link you to anything I found while looking for parts from team bikes.

That Warner replica is what rekindled my lust for one, love the attention to detail! I plan to ride the back end off (probably quite literally) this next year, and then it'll be retired somewhat to build up as a replica, probably of Miles' after the link you very kindly sent me. No harm in gathering parts as and when they appear though.

If you did have any spares to rebuild the AC that'd be excellent, I keep having a look around to see if I can find one, but obviously they're a rare old thing now.

I've seen your black ones, they're rather beautiful. For me, the ultimate (at least looks wise) were always the 151s or cherry red 2000s, before they moved onto the darker red in '01. Even if I find a slightly rough set, I've no issues with stripping them and rebuilding. Main issue I can for see is find the correct rear shock. I remember reading you had a lot of problems sourcing something, and mine's running a 5th Element. Which, retro and cool as it, just isn't right.

Thanks for that info, for some reason I always thought that ran Hayes. No idea where that came from, unless it was the factory bikes that had them?

Thanks for all your help, really is appreciated.

Hey mate check the 98 for sale thread I have 2 pairs of 151's for sale I also have 4 rear shocks over here with me that are poped if you pay the postage you can have one, there are a few guys in the uk now doing suspension servicing so maybe ask how much that would be just need seals a rebuild and recharge the gas.

Oh yeah they are plush suspension, j-tech, rfs suspension in Plymouth and maybe some others and also tf who are prob the best but it's an old shock that may pop but maybe they have some secrets.

I have a rear wheel that came off my 2000 ATX1.
Red Hope Big 'Un on a ( I think ) Mavic 321.
Mint condition, ready for a new home at the right price :D

Sorry Bronco, I haven't been back on this thread for ages, Paul (heavyp) has been a massive help and has already sorted me his decent set of 151s. What sort of money would you be looking for for the rear wheel? After a conversation this evening with a really nice chap called Lee (who's apparently on here somewhere), it looks like I may have found myself a very good set of 321CDs on red (that are still actually red!) Bulbs, so quite excited about that.

Re:

Hey Si

Measure that shock for me eye to eye and send me a pic of the bottom part of your bike where the chain device fits into and ill dig the rest put and come up with a price for ya.
