It sounds like you might have a typical Clarks brake problem where they leak from the piston seals. That would account for the rear brake being contaminated so quickly (by the mineral oil leaking) and the front lever going to the bar initially. Might be worth taking the pads out and checking the backs of them for a piston ring stamp of mineral oil.
