1996.5 Kona Lavadome
Its a sad, but sometimes you have to admit that when your putting a bike in the loft. Its time to move it on.
With the rebirth of my 98 Pahoehoe, that is just going to be more flexible stem wise to help with my back. Room had to be made and the Lavadome has been stored.
Its always been a good one with a few careful owners on this forum. I briefly used it as a big geared slick bike. However it was too nice and I decided it was better to get it back to oem. I call it a 1996.5 as the 1996 was a sunburnt orange. This has the same paint as the 1997 but is 100% the 1996 graphics and setup with canti's not v's. I think this is also the last year the Lavadome came with a TB P2.
Everything that I could find improve it has been. better logo bars, post gripshift, better condition curves, headset, forks. ripped saddle has been swapped for a similar if not improved mag railed version.
whats not 1996 spec..
Tyres..I never found a Tan wall Scratch rear tyre. Some came up but I wouldn't have had them on the bike. It has a conti tan wall replacement on the rear. I will supply a 2nd nos conti so if you want the front to match 100%. Really riding 20 year old tyres is probably a bad idea anyway.
BB..The lp26 bb weighs more than a bolt from the Forth Rail Bridge so I sacked that of for a better one.
Pedals... I didn't try here as I swap between flats and spds. Selling with some well used spds if you want.
Its got its got marks, unfortunately the most annoying is the code stamp someone put into the head tube. A few marks but everything was treated by previous owners. I need to treble check but I am sure all the stickers are perfect.
headstamp. it looks worse than it is.
this is the worst mark. again was treated before rust set in.
Its up at £200 no offers collected from Haydock. 1min of m6 Jct 23. I would consider meeting at cost on the m6 or m62 within reason.
I am not against posting but its going to take me a while to organise due to work commitments
