2 x SBDU Raleighs, one large and one small

Large (61cm) unrestored SBDU Raleigh with a big dent.
This seller always has optimistic prices, the start price (£699) didn't seem too bad, then I got to the picture of the dent.

Small, repainted SBDU Raleigh.
Has been on sale for a while, probably because of the very thick paint (powder coat?).
Shame the paint finish isn't better, the other problem with repaints is that it could be hiding a big dent.

The small one looks really nice I think, and the paint is quite nice. I think a large proportion of these are repainted by now.
For the first one, I agree the [prices from this seller are always at the very high end, but obviously they must sell. They seem to have a few Hetchins for sale and they are always high money for what they are. I believe anyway.

Had another look at the smaller one and you're right, it is nice I'm being over critical.
Actually it's probably the description that's the issue, no mention of the usual key words that someone would search for.
Adding TI, Professional, 531, SBDU, Pro, Ilkeston would probably get a lot more attention.

The other seller does seem to make plenty of sales at high prices but, looking at his feedback, it seems to be mainly expensive components.
Presumably buyers biting the bullet to get a missing part from their build, the frames and bikes rarely seem to sell.

Maybe his feedback doesn't indicate bike sales as he agrees a price and sells without eBay as a lot of sellers do these days. We all know that if you offer someone a good enough price they will end the listing, especially on high priced items as the fees can get high when selling on eBay.

I suspect you are right.
Even so, a lot of the auctions run to completion and have to get re-listed.

If you look at some of the completed sales you will see he wears lovely nail polish.

That tends to be the difference between business and private sellers, the ones in it for the money skip over major issues while many private sellers point out tiny 'flaws' you would never notice.
