1x10 advise me people...

Re:

I've been running 1x10 on my bike for about a year now.
Mine was a new build, so I chose to got that way from the start.
I'm using an XO clutch rear mech, Middleburn RS7's (square taper...none of that hollowtech etc bollox) and a Middleburn Uno narrow/wide 32T ring.
I love the simplicity of it, but I'm not 100% sold on the Uno ring. I keep dropping the chain. I was running a 34T Superstar narrow/wide ring last summer, and never dropped the chain once, so I'm going to swap back to it this week and see what happens.

If I'm 100% honest though, I actually preferred the bike when it was set up in winter SS mode. So much easier, and a bit more fun/challenging

the narrow /wide chainring isnt a requirement for 1 x 10. if you ride rougher trails without a chainguide, with the clutch rear mech turned off the chain will come off. fit a narrow wide chainring, with the clutch rear mech turned off & the chain will still come off! its the clutch rear mech that keeps the chain on, not the narrow/wide chainring.

Nope - I ran my previous FSR with an XT Shadow not-Plus and a Works Components N/W. Was spot on until the chain wore and then the teeth on the N/W. Then changed to a Superstar N/W and it was spot on again until I killed the mech.

Then went Zee FR.
