1999 Purple Orange Evo2

Lee GT

Retro Newbie
Hi!

Since bumping into a friend last week who has a modified, cool looking retro GT mtb, I had to go and find something to build similar!

So I've just bought a 1999 (I think?) Orange Evo2, which I plan to likely over restore/mod into a everyday bike for chasing my young kids around on

It came with:
Manitou Spyder forks
3x9 Deore Rear Mech
LX shifters
Ritchey hubs with WTB Speedmaster 23x11.3 rims
Avid v brakes

Generally it is OK condition, but I plan to make it a lot cleaner, with some cool older parts

Lovely colour. I'd consider swapping out the forks, I had them on my P7 and they were nothing special and quite flexy.

If the discs are going on then I guess this is already in hand

Eagle eyed viewers may have already noticed a flaw in my plan - the hubs don't have disc mounts, and neither do the forks 😅

So I managed to find a pair of Hope XC hubs locally

I'm also currently looking out for some early Marzocchi Bombers :)

Finally bought some silver DMR V8 pedals, removed the avid brakes, and offered up the Hope 3s on the rear

So far I am really happy with my progress, taking a working bike that was short a set of pedals, and turning it into a pile of parts in my garage!

Also if anyone is interested in a set of Hope 5s or Avid V brakes, I'll put some adverts up later!

That is such a nice colour. I agree about replacing the fork as mentioned further up, a rigid fork would probably be less harsh than a rattly Spyder 😜
