Hey there,

I have a 1998 parkpre pro 825 frame and are going to build it up to original specs. But I am having trouble finding out the exact specs for that years model? There are specs for the 1997 model on parkpredotcom but no 98.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers, Baden,

Hello

1998 was the year Parkpre USA ceased trading. The last version of the Pro 825 was an alu framed bike that did not resemble anything that had gone before. Build it how you like, it's your bike. I tried to build my Parkpre Ti as original as possible but sourcing the correct parts is very expensive and takes a very long time. It took me 2 years to find a mint PFR chromoly stem!

If yours is a skinny steel framed bike follow the 97 build as a guide on my website www.parkpre.com ;)

There are a few Parkpre fans here so I am sure they will be along soon to add their opnions.

Parkpre's were quite often sold as framesets only, and not complete bikes (well they were around my area, and indeed one of my Pro825's was a frameset), so you could quite easily build it up period '98 with bits that you like. Information on Parkpre's is very scarce and pretty much all of it is on rekiborters website with a few bits on here.

Interested to know if it's Alu or Steel though and be good to see some pictures

Its the steel version with the oversize triangular down tube. It has probably been up on here before as its previous owner is a member on here. I will get some pics up tomorrow though. Would I be right in guessing it was probably specced the same as the 1997 of rekiborters site but with 1998 model of components?

Here's a few pics for you. A respray will be down the track as she has quite a few chips. But will just concentrate on the parts for now.

Rekiborter-love the site by the way!

Fuji Stout Lite, massive down tube and 'low profile geometry 17 19 20'. Never seen one of those before. I thought the name 825 referred to the 8-5-8 butting profile of a Tange Ultimate Superlight tube. Just as 925 referred to the 9-5-9 of Tange Ultimate Ultralight (so-called).

Maybe this Fuji tubeset had a 8-5-8 profile, but I didn't know they ever made an aluminium 825, as aluminium certainly wouldn't have as thin a profile as that.

According to Bikepedia, they still used Tange Superlight for the 825 up to 1997, but for 98 they don't list any steel bikes or an 825. You couldn't sell steel frames very easily in the US in 98.

What do you mean respray it? Don't be ridiculous!
