1998 Kona Kilauea refresh

Haha, I wondered when someone would pick up on that. I'm fortunate enough that my garden almost backs on to that particular space - and as I wanted to take some before/after pics with the saddle change I lumbered all my bits and pieces up there with me.

I couldn't help myself today and have fitted the Marzocchi fork, it looks (and feels) really good. Pics to follow shortly.

So here are a few shots with the Superfly fitted. It takes a minute to recalibrate from the clean looking P2, but eventually it looks bloody nice also. These are great old forks.

Great job! I did a similar refresh on a 97 Kilauea although no where near as meticulous as yours but the decal job is first rate.

Now wanting another steel Kona! Fatal coming on here...

thanks man!
am thinking of giving it a shot in May BotM as I'm very pleased with the outcome. What do you all think, with P2's, or with Marzocchi Z2?..

The 631 Kilas are right up there in my favourite steel hardtail list. Had several over the years. The Munificent Mustard was a great colour, but easily damaged. Kona exchanged a 98 Kila, for a 98 Explosif frame due to the ease with which the Kila's paint chipped.
