Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows what frame differences there are on Caldera compared with the Lava Dome, Cinder Cone etc I thought they were the same but i noticed the dropouts are different on the Caldera same or simular to the Kilauea's?

Cheers

Paul

Re:

It tells you want it's all made of, the important stuff?
Frame material, thicknesses etc.

For dimensions, hit the catalogue.

For dropouts, look at pictures.
Cheap end used cheaper end stuff.
Sorry but I'm not sure what specifics you are actually wanting.

The dropouts you mention started in, 1997 on the top end bikes.

Correction

Kona frame materials 1996 to 1998
Is actually just 1997 (not 98 like I said above)

You'll need to look at 97 and the 99 and use that as a guide. Probably nearer the 99.

I remember that I couldn't find a 1998 one.

Thanks nice to see all this info. I was wondering if there were differences on the caldera besides the dropouts. I read on one forum that the frames on the lava domes and cinder cone etc its just the rear triangle that has double butted tubing but on the caldera its all double butted. But looking at the 1998 catalouge i have its rear triangle the same as the others.

Re:

Looking at the '99 info, the caldera had DB stay, a thicker down tube and other differences as shown on the material section of the docs linked.

Also each frame was different (traditionaly two model sets were the same frame)

The 1997 shows larger differences and the higher prestige the Caldera had that year.

1998 would be guess work, but I'd go more for 99 style differences.

Anyone else?

Ah i see now i didnt realize you had to click the tab at the bottom to see more info  apologys.

The simple answer with those 3 models in 98 is, same tubing, different drop outs. The Killy was different with 853.
