Hadn't visited Retrobike for some time now, because of my C'dale
graduation project, but then I received an email from Dualricky asking
me for INTENSE decals. That reminded me to finish my own Intense
project. I don't see many Intenses here, but hope you can enjoy this:
Already had this frame lying around for years and now finally got round
to restoring it. First I wanted to make a very nice build; powdercoating
the frame and then complete it with top shelf parts. But now I decided
just to finish it with what I had lying around.
This is how I bought the frame, completely stripped (original colour was yellow)
Searched for the correct Intense colour; Red (I never liked the yellow)
Spray painted it and finished it by polishing the clearcoat.
Reproduced the decals in Illustrator from the scanned originals
polished the seat tower and the rear forks
I found some Rockshox Judy XL's and resprayed them to match the frame
Unfortunately I did not have the 1998 RockShox decals so these are from
a newer Judy Race. I think the forks go great with the frame, although the
frame would also be great with some 120mm forks.
And now it will be build up with XT M737 / 739. It will be the little brother
of my retro M1, they make a nice family Boxxer vs. Judy, XTR vs XT.
It was meant to be a rider, like the M1. But in the mean time I also got a
2000 Intense Tracer, so now the Uzzi is a garage queen, because the
Tracer is such a great versatile 'do it all' fun bike
