1997 Trek Y-33

This is my recently acquired 1997 Trek Y-33.

I have all of the original parts. It needed a longer seat post so I substituted a Bontrager RXL carbon model. New tyres are Maxis TT Exception 2.0 front and rear. Pedals shown are Trek Composite Demos.

The carbon frame is in exceptional condition as the original owner had it set up with 1.5 street tyres, so rarely took it off the asphalt. I've applied helicopter tape to areas that might be exposed to rock and gravel chipping.

Cool and unusual bike. I would change the pedals and get a silver or black stem. I would also get rid of the bar ends and might get another bar. Maybe a riser bar?

My intention is to keep the bike as original as possible. The original aluminum seat post was cut to the point at which it was unsafe. The Bontrager (Trek) carbon post seemed a reasonable temporary substitute. The pedals are temporary demo pedals. i don't ride SPDs so will probably install platforms of that period.

This bike may be ridden by "guests". Not my main ride. Collectors bike.....maybe for Tweed rides etc.

The SPDs that were on the bike are the originals. They are old school....don't rotate....daunting for the un-initiated "guest".
