1997 GT LTS3 seatpost size

I know we all get sick of these questions, but can anyone help me out on this? 1997 GT LTS 3 (or possibly 4, don't think it makes any difference). The one with springy elastomer rear sus.

I took out a 27.2mm post from the frame but it was unbelievably tight to remove. Initially I thought it had seized in but I could get it to rotate. With a few squirts of WD down the seat tube through the bottle holder fitting I was able to get enough lube in to wrestle it out by holding the seatpost (now scrap) in the vice, then pulling the frame.

I'm assuming it should be 27.0mm based on the fact that it was even possible to fit 27.2mm in.

Can anyone confirm?

I can't confirm but an STS of that era took a 27.0. if 27.2 is too tight then you should be fine with a 27.0.
