It has not been a cheap build as the seller forgot to tell me the Seatpost was well and truly seized in, tried to say it’d been moved two weeks prior but I sent him pics from his adverts last year with it in exactly the same position He’s ignored my requests to help pay the pricey cost of removal which I had to entrust to a top local chap. Guy had built a special rig for just such issues that pulls rather than twists.

I’d looked at the Seatpost man, would have been £80 plus around £60 round trip in post! I paid £100.

Seller also failed to mention cassette was 9 speed as was chain and shifters were 8 speed plus the headset was shot with missing bearings and gouged races

Paid by bank transfer stupidly but you live and learn.
Luckily the post came out with no damage to the frame.

Kinda feels like I dodged a bullet somewhat! I do hate it when things fail to turn out to be as advertised/all you hoped them to be - that's happened to me on more than one occasion!

I do like what you're doing with it though, as I would have taken a similar route.

Pretty much done other than awaiting the new fork decals, didn’t realised I’d purchased them from the US when trawling eBay, wish I’d contacted Gil now given the time to post but still…….

Quick ride around the village, over some fields and back has been successful other than I may need to acquire some harder springs/ elastomers for the long travel Judy SL’s, comfy ride and everything else works great

Hey Teus, thanks buddy. Haven’t had any Thomson bits on a bike for a while and they just look great, had to be a King headset and I’m bored of using XTR and the XT just looks and works beautifully

I wasn’t sure about the pedals as when I bought them I realised the spindles are stiff as you like, apparently they use bushings rather than bearings so I guess if they are tight they don’t wear so quick. Still, they pedal fine and with good looks, a low weight and great price, what’s not to love?

Ordered a set of springs for the forks to stop them bottoming out, old inners can become spares for the Mrs’s Judy’s:
