Ok, so if anyone noticed this thread; viewtopic.php?f=6&t=418417

Well it came to a sudden halt when the missus insisted on a dampened saddle post.... :roll:
As the frame was 18" it was just an inch or two too high to accommodate this, so d8mok came to the rescue with a cheap but tidy little 16" Cromo tubed Cape Wrath from 1997.... this should do nicely.

Happy with lashing on the bits & bats knocking around the spares/eBay bin...



Just got the hub gear to cable up, but how the hell am I going to get this sorted? The single speed chain tensioner bolts on at least 10mm out of line...

you seem to have some 5mm of bolt spare in that chain tensioner!

Thanks gents... 5mm on the hanger bolt and 5mm on the axle has sorted it, (although now it’s spaced out to 140mm! :shock: )

I’ll have a crack at the cable run tomorrow...

What's the deal with the frame finish, it looks bare metal...satin chrome plating???

Brushed raw cromo with a “titanium” tinted lacquer over the top... then the decals were applied on top...

Right... as I said, this was always going to be a quicky....

Turns out it’s a lot more fun than it has any right to be!
Quick blast down the cabbage run and although the road/gravel tyres certainly weren’t ideal for the muddy conditions, the front disc and the rear hub brake didn’t let me down.. felt a little odd not being able to reverse pedal and only having one brake lever but TBH it didn’t detract from the fun!

Quick wash down, lube-up and now hung up probably until a nice dry spring day for the missus to try it...
