1997 Cannondale F700

Recently picked up this CAAD2 F700, I'll have to check the serial number but I Think it's a1996 or 1997 frame (it's definately a 1997), pre-disc brake, DD60 Headshock, although it does have an issue... The seatpost was seized :facepalm:
I tried the usual methods, but that resulted in the seatpost breaking off... :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm:
So I've given it to a local workshop/machinist guy to sort out.

The plan is to use this as my retro/Gravel bike. I've been using an old Marin with drop bars, but it occurred to me that the Headshock Cannondale bikes might make the best "Gravel" bikes, lightweight aluminium frame, built in suspension, and easy lockout function.

So once it's had the seatpost removed I'll set to building it up, probably just transfer the components over from the Marin initially, but maybe eventually retro-mod it to 1x11 etc.

Yes, like bus's, none around for a while and then a few of them pop up at almost the same time

I got a message today, seatpost removal was a success! so I'll pick the frame up tomorrow.
Plan is to use V-brakes, so I've got some "Travel Agent" type cable pull adapters on the way to allow the drop bar brake Levers to work with the V-brakes properly.

Made some progress with the F700 today.
Not far off being finished, managed to find a suitable front mech after I'd taken the photo, cable pull adapters work a treat
I just need to adjust brakes and gears, and need to sort out a wobble in the rear wheel, or may just stick the 7-Speed wheels on for the time being.

Initial impressions just sitting on the bike are positive, Front end is a bit higher than the old bike anyway, and the high rise stem helps a lot with getting comfortable on the drops.
I've a shorter high rise stem I might try, and may go 1x9 or 2x9 with the gearing as I've been running this gearing on the Marin but never used the granny ring at all. And I'll probably swap the tyres out for something a little slimmer/faster rolling.

Looks funky - looks good! Gold job so far - watch out! London roadie types will buy it off if you got. Couple of grand now !
