You are looking at a 1996 Specialized M2, this was the first year of the M2 and first replaceable dropout.

It’s a really tidy 15.5” (C-T) frame , crack free and also free from dents/dings.
Forks on the bike are a set of Manitou SX-R’s, they are sweet as, no leaking oil. They are mint! I’m sure the Michelin wildgrippers will of caught your eye, they are slightly cracked in places but surprisingly the tread is very good, they have plenty of life left in them.
I was originally going to keep the bike as a winter hardtail but got something else instead, it’s currently got a 170mm Specialized strongarm crankset with a narrow wide as I wanted to run the bike 1x9, cassette is a brand new sunrace, really clean, never used.
Wheels are ZAC 2000 rims on shimano deore hubs again running really well, straight/true and hub bearings feel good. Original shimano skewers. Minimal brake wear to the rims.
Inline Thomson Elite Seatpost fitted! Lightweight token bars and Koryak stem, Avid single digit v brakes.
You won’t need much too finish the bike and when you do finish it you’ll be very pleased! There’s not many of these frames around in this condition and 15.5”
