1996 P7 Rebuild

Re: Restoring P7 frame - Now with added PACE, Onza and M950

I'm liking this one, and looking forward to seeing it built :D.

Regards

PS. Loved battle of the Planets when I was a kid

Re: Restoring P7 frame - Now with added PACE, Onza and M950

Cheers for all the thoughts.
Have heard good things about the place in Maldon, so is going tomorrow morning for a metallic powdercoat as close to the nickel as possible (spent too much on xtr goodies!) and a region free blu-ray player for a Gatchaman (Battle of the planet's, unedited & minus 7zark7) box set!

Re: Restoring P7 frame - Now with added PACE, Onza and M950

Ah yes, I see your username - penny drops . Maybe not quite your genre, but my favourite anime film is Ninja Scroll.

Regards

Re: Restoring P7 frame - Now with added PACE, Onza and M950

Ninja Scroll is a top example of quality anime. Could wax lyrical on Appleseed, Akita, Hokuto no Ken, Golgo 13!

To bring my back on topic though, have a lovely nos UN91 ready to go I'm the P7 when I get it back next week!

Re: Restoring P7 frame - Now with added PACE, Onza and M950

Frame back from the powder coat shop. Not quite as shiny as i wanted, more a matt chrome finish (never expected it to match metal plating at a quarter of the price). Now the delicate job of decal application...

Re: Restoring P7 frame - Now with added PACE, Onza and M950

Rust free and shiny. now for decals and all the goodies to bolt on.
(better pics as build progresses)

Re: 1996 P7 build - fresh from the Powder Room

So , Frame now in Chrome Powdercoat.
RC35 MXCD's rebuilt by Tim at Fork English with new DX8 Aheadset.
SK9 stem ready for hotrod bar, Onza Porc grips and XTR 950 Shifter and V brakes.
M950 front and rear shifters
XT crank.
Grubby used Orange seat post - will do until I find something else topped with a Flite.

Orange P7 Decals from Gil to finish

Be ready for a xmas hack :xmas-big-grin: :xmas-big-grin: :xmas-big-grin:

Danbury Common hear I come - its been too long

Re: 1996 P7 Rebuild. M950, Pace RC35

Have to say - BB, headset and forks fitted by http://chapeauvelo.cc/ (didn't have the tools). A community bike and coffee chop in Colchester, Essex. Top service - can't praise them enough.
(Not getting anything for the bump/plug but like to flag good customer service when I get it!)

Re: 1996 P7 Rebuild. seatpost question ?

Does anyone know the seatpost for a '96 P7.
Website says 27.2, bit the Orange one I have, seems too tight. Did the earlier ones take something like 26.4?
Don't want to force it, just wondered if anyone else has same issue (have to get an accurate measurement)

According to the website the P7's dimensions were;

Year Seat tube Seat post
1994-1998 30mm 27.2+shim
1998-2005 29.6 27.2+shim
2006-2009 29.8 27.2+shim
2010-2011 27.2 27.2

Is the inside of the seat tube clean and re-greased? I know I had problems putting the seat post in before I cleaned mine out.
