I am selling this excellent example of a 1996 Kona Koa. It was a bit of a restoration project which I have made good progress on and it is now time to make some room in the garage. I did put a blog post on Retrobike earlier this year at the start of the project so you can see the improvements that have been made.
The front mech was a Shimano AceraX which was rusted solid so that was replaced with an upgraded and period correct STX RC. The front gear shifter was also damaged so in order to keep it looking the same I replaced both the front and rear. I appreciate Grip Shift was not the best but I wanted to try and maintain some originality. The rest of the bike is pretty much original apart from the grips and tyres. I sourced a Kona seat clamp to replace the bodge job that was on there before.
Whoever buys this would need to just fine tune the gears and it is good to go. It is an honest bike and as you would expect for something 28yrs old, there are some scratches and small surface rust spots but it is structurally sound and ready for a new adventure.
