Since my girlfriend's old Peugeot drove like an anchor, a replacement was needed. It had to be green, preferably neon green, able to carry the shopping, not too expensive and unattractive enough not to be stolen in the city.

Since I couldn't find a ready-made bike like this anywhere and wanted to paint again, I found something on Ebay.

So I dismantled it and looked for parts from the leftover box and bought some new ones, ordered colours and I was ready to go.

Now sanding was the order of the day....

Then prime and paint...

So that the frame doesn't look so empty, I needed an inscription. Since it was going to be a bike for lugging the shopping home, "Drahtesel" seemed fitting. That's a German name for a bicycle, since it's basically just a donkey made of "wire".

My daughter then scribbled the lettering and I made a stencil out of it and painted it on.

Since no bicycle is complete without a head badge and we were already on the subject of donkeys, I looked for a suitable picture and made one.

Then everything just had to be put together and the project was finished.

Nicely done!

The headbadge view pic is excellent, shows how this new paintjob emphasises the frames qualities.
I like this frame, what is that originally? A Gekko?

Thank you all! I'm happy she likes the bike too. I'd love to also ride it but it's to small for me.
