Awesome, brings back fond memories; the 96 Montare was my first MTB as well.
Really drooled over the matt metallic grey finish and the yellow forks; I thought it was a killer colour combiination.
I was hoping to save up and get a pair of Judy SLs for it eventually, but the Montare got stolen before I had a chance to upgrade it.

Anyway, thanks for the sharing and bringing this beauty back to life.

I have almost every catalogs from those years from Gary Fisher. And I have the same bike. Almost like new, but needs a little restoration. Anyone who could help me with that?
I´m in Iceland soooo

I have just rebuilt my Gary fisher montare it has all the original parts and the paint is in very good condition I owned it from new but I need to sell it due to another bike build. I can post more pics if anyone is interested.
