Yeah the stem's my bugbear, it doesn't look good in my opinion. I'm thinking Syncros because A: Canadian and B: The slanted top cap will match nicely with the top of the seat tube.

silver or black? I have a silver one I'm about to sell from the Explosif I bought.
Just spoken to my cousin and this was the year of his, had a red raceface crank....cant speak of what he did with it about 10 years ago

Black would be my preference but it's the specific 110mm x 15° that I would be looking for. If your silver one is those dimensions please send me some pics and a price.
Interesting to know the original cranks were actually red, they look very orange in the catalogue shot.

They were 100% red and I remember the red headset as well. Definitely didn't have that stem or style of stem on it! Remember its being really light. He was sponsored by Sunn the next year for trials riding!

Think the stems 130mm but will check.
