Clearly I misinterpreted that first photo, it was not a tube, but a solid cylinder of aluminum. Sorry, I was not thinking DIY on the stem, hub, and dropouts. Yeah, this is going to be a very cool build. I think we'd all like to see more in process pics of various stages of the machining of your new pieces.

I got a stem from Ringo with a stuck bolt. Messed around with it for 40 minutes, then soaked in Plusgas for several hours and it came out easily.
Now re-anodised.
Also some more parts I've anodised for this bike.
I'd been planning how to anodise the cassette for 6 months and finally got round to it yesterday, turns out it's titanium!

That is amazing! How are you going to fix the drop-outs to the Ti legs? Epoxy bond? Press-Fit?
I was thinking about making a rigid fork in this style for a Manitou HT project (use a Mach5 fork crown-steering tube assembly that I have, aluminum tubing for legs and make new drop-outs). Was still unsure whether the drop-outs should be bonded or press-fit.
