The aluminium was anodised first to check it was ok.

Clearly I misinterpreted that first photo, it was not a tube, but a solid cylinder of aluminum. Sorry, I was not thinking DIY on the stem, hub, and dropouts. Yeah, this is going to be a very cool build. I think we'd all like to see more in process pics of various stages of the machining of your new pieces.

I'm hoping you will stop being so cryptic and write fuller posts explaining what you are doing a bit better, but I'm sure it will be an interesting watch either way. ;)
 
Trimnells (or trimnell style...), with a custom steerer/stem setup, the bits you've machined are disc brake mounts, and the dropouts, and hubs will be custom made by your fair hand.

What do I win? :)
