I first came across this in the local bike shop looking all dusty and unloved with a seriously stuck seatpost, see here: viewtopic.php?t=49333&highlight=dusty+shop

After some careful (read lengthy!) work the post was finally extricated so the build could begin. The original white paint has lost some of it's original sparkle but it's not in bad nick so I was loathed to get rid of it. The spec isn't exactly factory original but period correct made up of bits I already had or got my hands on without paying over the odds. I'm now looking forward to the Ticknall ride on Sunday for her first trip out :D :D :D

Oh hell yeah! I need to buy me another one of these to do the whole 'factory spec' (well, more like 'subtly changed from factory') thing. Loved that paint job, regret losing it now. Interesting that it has Mountain Shock decals - must have come with Marzocchi's originally. Runs better with P2s though I am sure. Nice work!

That looks really nice, what size is it??

Paintwork looks fine good job ;)

Could be 17 or 18...I'm gonna hazard a guess at 17".

Gav, please tell me I'm right.

EDIT: Now I'm not sure...top tube/rear wheel intersection is now making me think 18". Aaaah, hopeless!

Thanks guys, the paint is looking better than when I got it but it is showing some yellowing due to the previous owner not looking after it
Not sure how the Mountain Shock/P2 situtaion came about although someone has suggested that towards then end of the runs Kona weren't so vigilant over what decals went with what fork option - someone had a rigid with mountain shock decals straight from the factory. :?
I believe it's an 18 but could be wrong with Kona's sizing !

fantastic transformation. as i understand it, the mountain shock denotes that the frame has suspension corrected geometry, not that the bike came with suspension. my 95 kona was rigid but had mountain shock on the top tube.

that frame has cleaned up really well. nice one
