BTW, frame respray is complete with clearcoat and it is currently hanging for compete curing. Shooting for 10-15 days under the sun. Will post pictures after it’s over.

From experience, id leave the clearcoat to harden for a hell of a lot longer than 15 days even in the Brazilian sunshine ;)
the 2K clear is different altogether and super hard within a couple of days. Having said that, i found it very difficult to work with.

Re:

Waiting for paint to dry has been the most frustrating part of both the builds I've done with paint this year. Both were rebuilt within that 10-15 day period (in the UK) - very carefully - but despite that both got one nick each in their paint (a snagged cable and a dropped bolt - dropped from about 5 feet above admittedly!). Neither have been ridden yet (one probably never will be), once their built my patience improves 10x.

For the next build I've bought expensive 2K paints for all 3 layers (except the pink base coat for the seat tube) in the hope that I can crack on quicker...

Re:

If you remain patient, and check this site's 'parts for sale' forum daily ... you will eventually find the actual original-specked parts for your build ... generally at very fair prices !

Re:

The gap on my 93 is not unduly small, maybe a 1/3rd of the width of the chain stay. Hard to see yours

An amazing transformation, and very nice bike indeed! I have an old Comp (‘93 I believe) in a metallic green that will get some attention later this year. You work gives fuel!

Re: Crankset Distance to Chainstay

Question: what is the typical & “safe” distance between the lower crank ring (at the tips of the teeth) and the chainstay ? My bb is 122.5mm Shimano.
Did a rehearsal of the crankset installation and they looked dangerously close, as if they would touch/crash in a stronger push.

Before you do anything with your bottom bracket, google the 'chain-line specs' for a triple crank-set (I believe it's around 47.5 or 48 mm), and if your chain-rings are within said parameters, everything should be just fine (provided you've got the correct spacers between your granny ring and crank-set spider?
