1995 Cannondale M2000

I was able to buy a started project from a friend in the hobby, as he had to reduce the number of bikes. The 1995 M2000 is the last fully rigid flagship model, as the top of the rigid range was M900 after this. Seems to be fairly rare bike, as supposingly sales turned towards F-models in the mid 90's.

The bike had almost all original catalogue spec parts, so the catalogue was the way to follow. No updates or tuning parts... except for the pedals that were missing. The catalogue Onza HO:s are not SPD-compatible, so I did put 747s (as all my pedals are 535/747). Saddle was changed to similar but one in better shape, rear cassette, chain, some cables and housings replaced and new canti bolt washers installed. Wheel QR's were changed to XT (from some no-name items) and broken seat collar qr replaced with a correct one. The broken cable doughnuts were glued intact and some minor touch-up painting done. The still original tires and rims were cleaned.

The factory specced M2000 (1995) is very understated, even shy. Beautifully painted frame build with featherweight components to supposingly the skinniest aluminium vintage Cannondale ever at catalogue weight of ~10 kg. It almost flies away.

Looks great and so clean. My mate had one of these from new but with pace instead of the pepperoni. From memory it had bull horn handlebars as well. Might have been the 94 model. Enjoy

Some more photos.

The best ever fully rigid Cannondale for sure ;)

Can you perhaps share some information on the SRT 800 Grip Shift housings, or perhaps some pictures, even?

They seem to be the smoky ones, not the clear ones. Do they have an item number, such as, on the later ones, SRT 800X-81 and SRT 800X-32? I am considering to convert my M2000 back to the SRT 800s, and I know that on the 1995 M900 they used the SRT 800 without stickers...

The original QR for the front Coda hub is a Coda branded one, btw. If you like, I can send you pictures.

I think these are the early clear cracking ones, but the code is SRT 800X-81 (rear) and 800X-11 (front). I think I have CODA front skewer somewhere, but the XT is of lot better quality :)

Did not like too much the looks of the Coda M501 crank/chainset. So When I found these RaceFace cranks with Syncros chainwheels, I decided to make a swap. The Cranks were originally anodized red, but really worn. So I did deanodizing and finished them with polishing. Suits the bike really well, with the bluish gray colour of the chainrings. The M501s are stored well if the need to factory spec arises. Too bad the Syncros middle ring is really worn, so looking for replacement part for that.
