Re:
The build is up an running
I’m going pretty much catalogue spec, with just the odd tweak where I feel improvements could be made over the OEM spec.
After buying multiple headsets, I’ve decided to press ahead with the Aheadset - so I got that pressed in
largely because of the low stack height.
I’ve always been conscious that the forks have quite a short steerer, so getting the headset in and trying the forks in place was something I’ve been keen to do. Thankfully it’s just right (but could be a little longer really).
With the headset in, and the star nut fitted in the steerer, I’ve got stem options. The OEM Ti stem which has zero rise (actually looks negative when installed) or what I’m calling my “Nod to Ned” - Zoom stem, which has a 10degree rise.
You can see the difference in the set-ups with each stem. For me the Zoom stem seems a better fit, and more rideable, so it’s staying for the time being.
Next up - the bottom bracket. OEM Specialized Ti item measuring 107mm to be paired up with an M900 XTR chainset. Whilst the length is an acceptable pairing for the chosen chainset, I had no idea if this was actually going to be long enough for this particular frame, but there’s loads of clearance both sides!
Even got the digital callipers out and took a pic just in case boy”O”boy pops by...
