This frame has been collecting dust for 2 years. Just got it started...

As you can see so far:
- Frame walnut blasted, powdercoated gloss black (canti-guide removed from upper seatstays)
- Rock Shox SID XC Dual-Air (2000? 2001?)
- Syncros stem
- Syncros seatpost
- Sella Italia Flite Titanium (blue leather)
- FSA Platinum Pro Titanium ISIS BB
- FSA Carbon cranks
- Easton Monkeylite Carbon High Rise bar (temporary)
- Oury lock-on grips (not very light, but my favourite)
- Avid Speed Dial Ti V-brake levers
- Sun CR-17A rims (blue ano)
- 64 Union Ti-Dye spokes
- Ringle Bubba hubset (blue ano)
- Control Tech Ti (semi) quick releases (blue ano)
- Ritchey Scuzzy Logic headset

Parts not yet installed:
- Avid Ultimate V-brakes
- XT thumb shifters
- XT derailleurs
- 2007 Crank Bros Egg Beater SL (blue springs)
- Control Tech Low Rise Carbon bar

Still required:
- 8 speed cassette
- 8 speed chain
- decals

Future upgrade:
-Syncros XC headset

Good start for a project. What is 'walnut' blasting?

same as sand blasting but using crushed walnut shells instead of sand.

Thanks for the kind words. A few points to ponder...

Decals - I'd like to get repros, but I'm time strapped, so no fiddling around getting them made from scratch. Rocky Mountain customer service sucks lately, so no answers there. I have a set of modern decals, but since they're made for fat tubes, they're a little large. I was also thinking of getting some very small white block font dcals and go for a Ducati decal type scheme. Less is more etc...

Walnut blasting - just like sand-blasting but the media used is crushed walnut shells. It's effective without stripping away any metal. This stage was quite important as the original Rocky finish was powdercoat which was impervious to aircraft paint stripper.

Walnut blasting? Wow...must use up a lot of nuts! Maybe the place you had the frame done have trained squirrels who do the work

Great project by the way! I remember I wanted an Altitude years ago after seeing one painted in team red and yellow. Good to see somebody else who realises new school and old work great together (no point having flexy cranks, no travel up front and crap brakes).
