1994 Orange P7…..black finish?

Potentially wrong forum but I’m onto my last Orange rebuild, it’s been sat around ages after finishing my last two. Like my others I’m building it up exactly as I rode it, so have a 1994/5 21” in the black finish and a box of bits. I need to refinish the frame as it’s not at its best and have it in my head the black ones were powder coated rather than painted. I had my origional one in 1994 and drove into a height barrier with it on the roof (along with my pro flex 857) and I collected its replacement directly from their place near Halifax, it was literally still soft in terms of finish as had just been done and they told me not to bolt anything to it for a few days!
Can anyone tell me if powder coating is the way to go or painting…I suppose it doesn’t matter as long as it’s the same Matt style black but I may as well try to keep it as close as.

They'd moved to powder coat for most bikes by 94 mate, lost the fade colours and went single paint finish.

Powdercoat is tougher, but less glossy without a finish
