1994 Marin FRS Team

This is probably going to be a verrrrrrry long build for me!!

This has always been one of my dream frames and Ive looked for one for ages but they always seem to be in the extra large size and I ride smaller bikes!

Anyway I trekked off to pick up this one I found and it looked in a bad way - compressed forks and a very homemade paint job

I got it home and did a quick assessment that it was going to be a tough job

Everything was garbage apart from the rear mech, front mech(but needs work), original marin seatpost and the shifters/brake levers (which turned out to be XTR M950!

You’ve got your work cut out for you there mate, but looks like it will be a stunner when finished. Love the suspension seat stays, good luck with the build.

i always lusted after the doug bradbury manitou frame and bikes but only until a few days ago i never knew marin used the frames aswell if they arent the same then marin certainly copied the design down to a tee lovely frames make sure you check the bb area as the early versions had issues with cracking from what i remember

Thankfully this one is crack free!

updated today after the paint was removed (took nearly a week and multiple applications of remover)

It's looking better already, the forks should be fairly straight forward to rebuild, are you going to polish the frame?

Yep going to polish it up real nice!!

Front forks are rebuilt with springs - rear springs on their way as well as matching ATI clear boots

It's off to get its pivots and bushings changed shortly

Great project.

Nothing wrong with polished frames, i personally love them, but i also think it would look good with the black frame with the silver rear and forks contrasting with it.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of this.

A full strip down. Great, you get to know the bike better.

Worse case scenario is no buggy here. My main man Ringo got his repaired, the usual crack attack is the pivot bit.

Gonna be a good 'un.
