Hello Retro Bike,
My name's Matt, just back home from Uni without my daily wheels (early 80's Raleigh Sport) so thought i'd dust off the 'other' old roadie in my house.
It's a Lotus Sport 110, ex of Pascal Lance when he rode for the GAN Tour de France team in '95. As I understand it from research, he won a couple of stage time trials on this bike, before it saw the end of the season and came back to the UK. At this point, my aunt (who worked for Lotus at the time) picked the frame off the lorry and my dad bought it for £100.
It was then built up largely with what was around for 'reasonable' money at the time, except the forks which are custom Hottas - apparently the original sets were taken back to Hotta and destroyed, so these were made to spec.
Dad rode it to and from work every day for about 6 years, slip-streaming buses and vans, and even went through the woods on it if he was running late.
The bike then got hung up for a bit as his workplace moved beyond cycling distance, until it eventually ended up in my hands when he unfortunately passed away in 2011.
I'm now back from uni, looking to get it back up to scratch for the summer. I'll probably just ride it for pleasure, but you never know - it might see the odd race again.
Anyway, here are the pictures;
Also has this for when the wind picks up a bit:
Lotus Sport 110
Hotta forks
ITM tubular tri bars
Shimano 600 Groupset
Sugino Kevlar Tension Disc rear wheel/ Mavic Tri-spoke
Gipiemme Techno 416 front wheel
Selle Italia Flite Ti saddle with Lotus clamp.
If anyone has some more info on the bike, the rider, the team, parts you think need to be on it or anything vaguely related i'd love to hear it.
Cheers!
