I kept it as a 7-speed so the thumbies worked best. Built to ride, not to be looked at, hence the modern brakes and wheels. Quite pleased with the weight as my old Cannondale M1000 was 24lb, and that had an aluminium frame and various weight-weenie bits.

It looks more like an 18" even a 19" frame though, not a 17", unless you measured to the top tube maybe!?

Kona stopped including the seat extension in the frame size after 1993, I think.

Thanks for the comments. The stem was sprayed with the frameset. The decal should actually be an outline of "Velocity" rather than white, I think, but it was hard to tell from the photo in the 1994 US catalog (you can find the PDF on this site - not the "catalogue" which is UK spec). I preferred the US spec bronze to the UK silver.

I couldn't find any decent photos of a US Kilauea in the wild, so either they didn't sell many or no-one in the US cherishes them much!
