1994 Kona Explosif

Thanks for the advice I´ll buy this one....

and I`ll start the long search for a Kona Project 2 Titanium as my lift project :) That fork must be the nirvana of a fork for the bike

Hopefully the fork you're buying is a 41cm P2 and nothing like the very unsuitable one in your picture. Compare the position of the brake posts with the correct-length P2 on the 95 Kilauea shown below.

As far as I'm aware, ti P2s were made only in 39cm a-c length, suitable for frames up to 1993. Unless you plan to use the frame as a road bike with a very long stem, 39cm is too short for a suspension-adjusted frame IMO.

Incidentally, the 1994 P2 was very similar in appearance to the 95, with the same orange flash, but it was more of a silver grey colour.

Thanks for all the help, this has been a steep learning curve for me in to the world of forks.

The fork I am want to buy is a 26/ 1-1/8 410MM RIM BRAKE. So it should fit the bikes geometry, but I really want to keep the old headset are the old a threaded headset? If so I probably have to get an old threaded fork?

Yes, the Control Centre headset is for threaded systems, but I expect that the modern P2s still have steel steerers, in which case it could be converted from ahead to threaded. A bike shop or engineering company ought to be able to cut a thread into it for you.

You'll need to cut it down to c122mm first - that should be the right length for your 90mm head tube plus the Control Centre, but check that the Marzocchi steerer is that length before you cut the P2!
 
More or less finished with the Kona as well... Just missing the racelight bar, but got hold of one yesterday :cool: and I am going back to the original wheels just havn´t had the time yet to restore them....

This bike have have used allot since I bought it, even on pretty tough single tracks...
