1994 GT Zaskar LE

I think it’s a 94 anyway.

I bought this as a frame a few years ago and probably wayyyy over paid because of Covid tax (it was like £300 or so). She was a little faded so I removed all the decals and gave it a light wet sand and polish before replacing all the decals (from Retrodecals)

At the time I built it up with an XTR group I’d bought cheap from Italy pre Brexit, a Pace RC35 MXCD, some new Hope bits and an mis matching stem, seatpost and bars.

I did a build video here.

It hasn’t been out much to be honest. I want to get it on one of the races at Cannock but a dry one 😅

Ok so it’s been a few years and I’ve done a bit of matching since.

First I popped on a matching ControlTech stem and seatpost to solve one problem. Then I found a really nice set of RaceFace Air Alloy bars on eBay. They were the colour I wanted to match to the crankset (when I found it) so got them shipped over from the US. THEN the crankset popped up too. I think it went for a fair price for the condition. It has a few scratches and the chainrings are a bit shit so I grabbed a nice Middleburn ring to pop on it and I’ll replace the middle ring too. Oh and then there’s the Ringle H2O

I did think about putting my Hope Ti Blue wheelset on too but they’re heavier than the XTR so I’ve left them off for now.

Next is debating whether to swap out the Pace fork for a minty Answer Manitou Magnum I have.

I’ll also replace that middle ring, maybe throw on some new chainring bolts and a crank bolt too (Ti maybe?)

Go with the Manitou - being almost completely sealed, it will offer consistent smooth travel in the long term. All the CNC artistry will match the headset and seatpost clamp.

Blue RaceFace bars and matching cranks are stunning. Rare bars indeed, I never knew there was such a thing and I have a RaceFace fetish.

Neither did I until I started searching for mid 90s Canadian parts for my Devinci! There's a few available on eBay in the US still I think. Just black bars though.

Nice build! I have the same forks on my '94 Zaskar LE too!...and am also considering swapping them for Manitous - although I don't have any yet  So I'm keen to see what your look like if you make the switch!!
