1994 GT Karakoram

Thank you so much guys!

However, as I wasn't entirely satisfied with the fairly modern HS11 (to much plastic) and a guy 2 streets away sold his wife's no-name bike (which had an XT 739 groupset) for 30€, I was now able to fully equip the GT with XT components.
I am thrilled.
The Race Kings were also dead and while searching for new tires, I discovered a very good offer for a Pelago Frontrack and couldn't resist.
One thing led to another and I ended up with this.

After all, you need a fair-weather vintage MTB commuter.
Or don't you????

Awesome!!

The bike has been a helpful companion ever since and, like a real Karakoram Sherpa, it manages everything I can think of.

And it's great fun to ride!

30 bucks for a 739 groupset! That makes it 2 in 2 of cracking good deals for this project...

Can it get any better than this?

I wouldn't change a thing now...it's as it was meant to be...

Yeah I think now it's pretty much the best retro-fun-city-commuter-gravel-cargo-whatever I ever had.
