I understood from the seller at the time when I bought it that spesh measured from centre to top on 1994 frames and that would make it a 19".

That's correct. Yours is a 19", and so is my '92 Comp:

They ride small for their size (shortish top tube and a low front end) but that's how Specialized measured them.

That's true, but it's generally understood that different manufacturers use different methods. Specialized measured centre-to-top.

A '94 Stumpjumper that measures 19" centre-to-top is a 19" model, according to Specialized. A '94 Stumpjumper that measures 18" centre-to-centre and 19" centre-to-top is a 19" model.

I had actually forgotten who I bought it from but yes I think it was you. Agreed, it does ride like it is smaller, I would never normally ride a frame of this size, in fact the StumpJumper FSR that I bought of only the very next year in 19" was way too big for me, but the 18" has similar ish geometry to this one.

I just don't need this bike anymore otherwise I would consider keeping it. In fact if it doesn't sell I will put it to the back of the garage for a rainy day.
