I found this on eBay recently advertised with a high price. So I stuck in a reasonable offer and luckily the seller accepted. Happy days!
Ever since I was parted from my lovely old trek 8700 by a t leaf, I've wanted another similar carbon Trek.

The 8300 came kitted out in Suntour , Im in two minds what to build it up with!?!. Condition is fantastic for a 28 year old frame. It's better in the flesh than in the photos.

I keep forgetting that the pics uploaded go in reverse order, first uploaded is at the bottom of the pics

I'm missing the rear cable hanger I've zoomed in a little on the 3rd pic. Hopefully somebody will have one ;)
I'd appreciate any input on whether I should go Suntour or Shimano. Rigid or suspension forks? I'd like dx kit on this, I think it will sit just right with the frame colours. But there again an xtr build could be on the cards.Whatever the final decision, it will be tasteful.

Re:

Really like that.

Is the £799 the original price that they were?

Think about what £800 would get you now in comparison for a new bike.

The Trek catalogue is courtesy of Jimbo-xc , thanks Jimbo ;)
Pretty sure these are accurate prices back then. It's crazy....

Thanks Dom :D

Re:

Few more pics. It's certainly been looked after and had an easy life.
No uphill paper/hovis rounds for this

Re:

Nice score!
Look forward to seeing how you build this up.

If it’s anything like my ‘92 8000, the rear cable hanger should be readily available, see link below;

Re:

I'm in two minds regards forks, so opinions on whether you think these could work
I had a pair of these on an xlite titanium hardtail bitd and they look so smart.
Used to love that bike with the Mavic sunsets

Some early carbon forks either rigid or suspension would be good. FRM did some lovely carbon forks, specialized fsx, Judy fsx Obviously Pace too. Any others worth considering?

awesome project

Watching this with Interest.

Interesting to see that by '93 - the need for a 'DooHIckey' to enable the front mech had made way for using a top pull mech. The chain stay brake noodle has been replaced with a dia compe cable guide and the top tube cable guides have been altered to accommodate these changes.

All the ingredients for a cool build.
