You know the frame is clear anodized. On my Manitou FS (1994) there was a sticker saying: "This frame is clear anodized, use only soapy water to clean it. Do not use any polishing compounds on it, as it will remove the anodizing." Unless the frame is badly tarnished I would leave it alone. If you started polishing I guess it's too late... it's not the end of the world but the surface will tarnish more easily in a "raw" polished finish vs. clear anodized, you will have to polish it more often then...

I guess it would be like having a car painted, applying the paint is only half the job
its the prep work that takes up the time and costs the money.

that said I've no idea on a whole frame, all the parts I've had refinished have been small and its easy to polish them to a high shine prior to dipping.

I've no knowledge of anyone having a whole frame re-anodised either, but there must me someone who can advise.

Probably yes... most regular anodizers don't have a large enough vat to fit a full frame in it. The ones that do have one, are most likely some big-shot industrial equipment guys that have no interest in your "chump-change" (no offense there...) work. Now if you have a hookup with somebody that works at a place like that you could pull it off...

Re:

I did not know that. Thank you for pointing that out. Unfortunately the frame started to have some small corrosion deposits but nothing to serious.

It's the main triangle and lower chain-stays (7000 series aluminum that's anodized). The rear brace and fork bridge (2024 series aluminum) are probably not anodized, that's why they did tarnish differently than the main triangle (you can go to town on those, even though their original finish wasn't polished).

I'm looking at buying a 93 nail trail for $100 mostly for some parts. Bull horns, better stem and possibly the seat post clamp but she sure isn't the easiest lady to communicate with.
